20 Questions is a new blog series where each month we will be interviewing Communities In Schools of Jacksonville staff members. This month's guest is Bryan Jones, the Project Manager for our After-School program at Samuel A. Hull Elementary School.
- If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
- You have to take care of your mom and your whole family and of course then go get what I like but remember saving is key.
- If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
- I am a kind of jack of all trades and learn different aspects of anything. Whether it’s working on a car or building a mechanical plane.
- If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
- To one of the most beautiful islands in the world, which I haven’t found yet but if its beautiful I’m there.
- What’s your favorite outdoor activity?
- Football.
- What is the last book you read?
- Lord of the Flies.
- What chore do you hate doing?
- Folding clothes.
- If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
- Barack Obama, I would like to pick his brain and learn more about his childhood and coming up in the society that he came up in.
- What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
- I worked for a company where we would get stacks of blank credit cards and had to stack and count them and then put them back on the shelf. It was weird.
- What advice do you have for kids who are struggling in school?
- Keep at it. There is nothing in life that is going to come easy and with failure comes success. Don’t just quit because things are hard just keep trying.
- What three traits define you?
- Hardworking, dependable and eager.
- Tell us something that might surprise people about you?
- I actually played the trumpet in college and that’s how I financed college.
- What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
- Push yourself a little bit further. I was a bit lack on certain aspects of schooling and activities and I would tell myself to push myself a lot farther.
- What is your favorite food?
- Steak or prime rib.
- What was your favorite subject in school?
- It just came easy to me because it was universal. 1+1 always equals 2.
- What is your favorite sport/team?
- Football and I was born and raised a Dallas Cowboys fan.
- What motivates you?
- Working with students. Seeing the students take on the knowledge that I gain growing up through the years and seeing the smiles on their faces knowing that I am a key factor in their life.
- What show are you’re currently watching?
- One of my favorites is the Big Bang Theory.
- What is one of your pet peeves?
- Having the ability to try and not trying.
- Do you have any secret talents?
- No secret talents but playing an instrument is one thing I don’t do now.
- What is your favorite thing about working at CIS?
- I enjoy working with my coworkers and managers because there is a sense of family here. That sense of family I instill to my employees and students that I work with. Another favorite thing about working at CIS is coming into contact with students of different cultures and students that remind me of me when I was their age.
