How to Support Communities In Schools of Jacksonville This School Year

Communities In Schools of Jacksonville works with students across 40 schools in Duval County and we can’t do that without your support. From monetary donations to volunteering, there are many ways you can support us and be a part of our mission for the 2022-2023 school year.

Donations

There are two ways someone can donate to CIS Jax: monetary donations or in-kind donations. We use monetary donations to help our students and families with any unexpected expenses that might occur. With monetary donations, we have helped students and families receive new clothes, school supplies and basic hygiene needs. In-kind donations are another great way to donate if someone wants to be directly involved or organize a donation drive. Over the past few years, we have partnered with businesses and groups to collect donations of clothing, school supplies, food and hygiene products. All in-kind donations go directly to schools where students can receive what they need from the CIS case manager. Many families struggle to purchase basic needs and CIS Jax wants to help eliminate that barrier. For more information on how to give a monetary donation, visit the “Donate” section of our website or email Erin Mangan at emangan@cisjax.org. For more information on in-kind donations or putting together a drive, visit the “Volunteer” section under the “Get Involved” tab or email volunteer@cisjax.org.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to get involved with CIS Jax. Throughout the year, we hold various volunteer opportunities from guest readers for Literacy Days, to career guest speaking at high schools, and student needs collection. According to the Independent Sector, each volunteer hour is estimated to be $29.95. During the 2021-2022 school year volunteers contributed an estimate of 349 hours. That is a $10,362.70 value that enriched and supported our students. This year, we are so pleased to be able to host our volunteer opportunities in person and virtual. Our organization partners with individuals or companies that want to donate their time to our organization based on their talents or areas of expertise. For more information on volunteer opportunities, please visit the “In-Person Volunteering” section of our website or email us at volunteer@cisjax.org

Social Media

Today, social media is a major platform for nonprofits trying to tell their story. CIS Jax uses Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok! Social media engagement is very important for spreading the story and mission of CIS Jax. We ask that if you are able, follow us on any social media platforms and engage with our content! Like, comment, share and mention us to your family and friends to help grow awareness in the Jacksonville community.

We are looking forward to another amazing school year with our students and you can be a part of it! For more information on any of these topics, please visit our website or email us at info@cisjax.org.
